INTERVIEW 2014
I gotta say I didn't sleep that well the nights before my interview. I was really nervous because I really wanted this job after this long process. In the last e-mail, they asked you to dress properly. I had my hair down because I have two percings and I didn't want them to see it because it's not the «Disney look». I wore black pant, a chic tank top with a blazer with chic boots. I had make-up on but not a lot. You don't want to be «too much».
When I drove to Laval University, I was soooooooo nervous. When I arrived, I didn't find the local so my nervousness was gone because I was only thinking about finding the local. I arrived on time at the presentation (9 am). Before your interview, there is a presentation that you must attend because if you don't, you will not be interviewed. I sat with some people. They were all very friendly. Most of them have been to Walt Disney before and they seem to know so much compare to me so that was nerve-racking. I think we were 20-25 at the interview not that much compare to Toronto I heard they were around 70. After the presentation, I wanted to participate to this program even more, it really sounds like the perfect summer.
My interview was between 11am - 12 pm but they started a few minutes after the presentation which was around 10h30 am. There was 3 interviewers, one was the recruiter and the other was helping her but have a different job at Disney. There was one big room and they each were in a corner so three Canadians were interviewed at the same time with a different person. I was interviewed by Rick. I was outside the class and Rick called my name. I thought I would have to shake his hand but he hold me the door and told me to go to his desk and he never tend his hand - so that was awkward because I knew normally you have to shake hands.
Here are the questions he asked me:
- Have you ever worked in the USA?
- What are your top two roles for the program? [ Mine was lifeguard and merchandise, at the presentation they told us there weren't recruiting for character attendant anymore]
- He asked me if I was a good swimmer.
- He asked me if I would mind working with money and could handle it.
- Experience working outdoors?
- If I would be able to handle the heat of Florida.
- Have you ever lived with other people ?
- When would I prefer starting, May 13th or May 20th?
- He asked if I had any final questions… I said no because the presentation was very clear.
Rick explained me a lot about the roles and talked to me about the languages that I speak and that would definitely be a plus for me. I thought after my interview that I didn't talk as much as I hope. Rick talked a lot and I didn't want to interrupt him while he was speaking because it's really rude to do that. So, when he asked a question I developed a lot. For example, when he asked me if I worked in the USA before, I said no BUT I've travelled a lot and started numerating the states I've been to, I also said that I used to pass my summer in a summer camp in Maine and I said I really love this country - which it's true. The interview was about 15 minutes, maybe less than that. When it ended, I said thank you, like twice, and said I really hope to see him again, this summer in Florida. We didn't shake hands at the end, so I was like: okayyy that was weird.
I stayed after my interview to talk with other participants and looked when Rick called the next name and they didn't shake hands either so I thought that was a relief. I talked with other people who had their interview and they were all saying it went really well and I was like: mine was weird but I think I did a great job... We'll see.

INTERVIEW 2015
This year was so much better. I wasn't nervous at all. I didn't get lost while I was looking for the room interview because it was the same as last year. Plus, two of my friends who are applying this year were at the same interview.
You have to arrive 15-30 minutes in advance before the presentation. Before your interview, there is a presentation that you HAVE to attend. The presentation was pretty much the same things as last year. They explain you all the stuff that you need to know about the program: Roles, Housing, Hilton Head opportunity etc.
My interview was between 11am - 12pm. While we were waiting, I was with my friend and we answered lots of questions about the program. It was really fun to meet all this people and see how much they want to do the program. There was 3 interviewers: the main recruiter for Canadians and two managers from different location. The main recruiter was also there last year.
My friends and I got called at the same time. I was with this guy who is Haitians. He was really nice but I felt it was his first time doing this. He wasn't speaking loud enough so I had a hard time trying to hear what he was saying.
Questions he asked:
- Tell me about you
- How would I benefit from a second program with Disney
- Would you mind working outdoors
- What is your top roles (I specific that I actually had 2)
- Why Character Attendant / Merchandise
- Would you be able to work with food/candies
- Do you mind big crowds
- Would you mind working late
- Would you mind working with the strollers
I said thank you and left the room and than he called my name back. My heart was beating so fast but it wasn't negative at all. He gave me a Pin that says Disney's International Program. I was really happy it is my first Pin trading and I got it because I am an Alumni. The only thing I had to do was waiting from now on...

INTERVIEW 2016
Like I said in "the beginning" section, this year was quite different for the interview. Alumni were given a phone interview (mid-January) and the new applicants had the standard face-to-face interview (end of January to the beginning of February). My interview was on January 13th, at 8h30 am. I didn't prepare myself that much, but I had a paper with the reasons why I want to be a Character Attendant and a few other questions like how would I benefit from a third program, etc.
They called around 8h32 and last 20 minutes. The interview went well. I was able to say what I wanted to say except a few things but I was happy with my interview.
Here is some of the questions she asked:
- Would you rather May 9th or May 16th ?
- Do you have any questions about the Disney Look?
- Do you have any tattoos or piercings?
- Do you mind working outdoors?
- Would you mind doing a drug test ? [Depending on roles]
- Would you like to participate into the Hilton Head Program?
- Did you have to handle a hard situation with your past roommates?
- What would you change from your past program?
- Can you tell me an emergency situation that you had to handle?
- What kind of Magical Moments have you done?
- What would you do if you were alone with 30 kids and you don't have any games?
- What would you do if you were with a group of kids and one kid was particularly shy?
- What does Mickey use to go to one park to another?
- What would you do if a guest is mad because you just closed the line for a meet and greet?
- Are you able to work with cash?
- Do you mind working with food (reference to merch)
- Can I lift heavy things?
- Which role are you more qualified?
- Do you have any questions ?
QUICK TIPS: If you have a role that you really want and you feel they don't ask many questions about it, try to engage the more you can and talk about this role. For example, I really wanted Character Attendant so every time I felt there was an opportunity to fit something about this role I took the opportunity.
She asked me this question for recreation / children activities ..
- What would you do if you were with a group of kids and one kid was particularly shy?
I answered the question and turn it the other way: it's like if a child was scared of Mickey I would do... and so on.
